The driver app
What drivers do in the DoRoutes Driver app, from pairing their phone to signed proof of delivery, with or without signal.
The DoRoutes Driver app runs on Android and iOS. Drivers don't have a password: each one signs in from a phone paired with a code.
Pairing a phone
- In the office, add the driver in Settings → Drivers & licences to get a pairing code.
- On the phone, open DoRoutes Driver, tap Scan the code and point it at the code, or paste the pairing link.
A code works once. If the office unpairs a phone, the app says so and asks for a new code.
The day
The app opens on Today: the driver's jobs in order. Start shift clocks them in and End shift clocks them out. Today's run is saved on the phone, so it still shows with no signal, along with when it was last fetched. When the office changes the run, the app shows Your run has changed.
A job
Each job lists its steps. The driver taps each one as it happens:
- Arrived at collection, then Loaded.
- Arrived at delivery, then Delivered.
- For waste, Arrived at the tip and Tipped at it, choosing the kinds of waste tipped.
Report an issue sends the office a note of what's wrong.
When the run stops once for several of a customer's deliveries, Today shows them as one stop. It opens on Deliver: and the customer's name, with the address and each job. If your firm takes one signature for them all, the driver taps Arrived at delivery and Delivered once for every job there, and the customer signs once. If it takes a signature for each, each job is delivered and signed for on its own.
Proof of delivery
At Delivered, the customer signs on the phone. If they can't, and your rules allow it, the driver taps Customer can't sign and says why. The driver can add photos at Loaded, Delivered and Tipped, and records the tip's ticket at Tipped.
Where cargo tags are used, the crew scans or types each tag's ID at Loaded, and the tags are released at Delivered.
Everything the driver records shows on the job's page in the office, under From the driver.
No signal
Steps, signatures, photos and clock times are kept on the phone and sent as soon as there is signal, in the order they happened, each with the time it was recorded.
Location
While a driver is clocked in, the phone shares its location with the office. If location is turned off or not allowed, the app says the office can't see the van and offers to turn it on. Live GPS and tracking has more.
